Adaptive Multi-Paddock (AMP) grazing

At Volterra, we firmly believe that a proper grazing system can help improve soil and pasture quality while increasing animal productivity and health. Adaptive Multi-Paddock (AMP) grazing is a management system in which livestock are regularly moved from one plot to another to avoid overgrazing and provide adequate resting time for regeneration of pastures.

AMP grazing presents a multitude of benefits, including the following:

  • Improves yield per hectare, as an adequate adaptive rotation program allows optimal pasture regrowth.
  • Increases grass quality, avoiding selection which allows for a more equal grazing.
  • Limits soil erosion by improving soil structure and not allowing bare soils.
  • Controls the spread of manure, spreading it naturally throughout the plot.
  • Improves plant root systems, which increases soil quality, water infiltration and carbon sequestration.

Volterra counts with a group of experts with extensive experience in pasture and livestock management as well as the marketing of high added value products. We also participate in several LIFE Projects, which focus on ecosystems agroforestry management. All this allows us to give advice to producers who wish to implement this kind of management system in their farms. Contact us for more information.
